windows & skylights > cut glass
Definition: Cut glass, also called “wheel engraved” glass, is glass that is carved by a spinning stone or copper wheel, the shape and size of the wheel determining the type of cut. The glass is held above the wheel and, depending on size and weight may be hand-held or suspended on a finely balanced pulley system. When the cuts are polished to bring out the maximum refractory potential in the glass, it is referred to as “brilliant cut.” Susan Wagner Designs LLC is one of the few studios in the United States to offer handmade wheel engraving.
